Judy Moody fans are so excited about Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer. In this book, we discover all the inside info on the movie, which was filmed in the summer and fall of 2010, and view many photos of the process.

We learn which actors are playing the parts of Judy's friends and family. An actor from Australia, Jordana Beatty, is Judy. Jordana kindly consents to an interview by Judy Moody herself, in which she answers such questions as how difficult it was for her to speak with an American accent and what major hairdo change she had to undertake for the role. She also confides that some American words were real tongue-twisters for her (who knew that "jawbreaker" would be pronounced entirely differently in Australia?). Readers can earn Thrill Points by finding certain objects in the photos of the movie version of Judy's bedroom, even as they ask themselves if this is the room they always pictured for her.

There are more interviews to enjoy. Judy "Scoops" Moody talks with director John Schultz. We learn how old he was when he made his first movie (would you believe he was 12?!), other films he's directed, and his most enjoyable activity connected with Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer. Schultz also gives kids who want to be movie directors a few career tips that they can use immediately. Readers learn about a movie he filmed so Judy could watch it during Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer --- a movie within a movie!

JUDY MOODY GOES TO HOLLYWOOD gives us the inside story on how movies are made. Among other things, we learn that a storyboard artist draws up every shot and angle in a film and they look quite a bit like comics.

We fans know Judy Moody has some interesting pets. We get to see photos of the "actor" playing Mouse, her cat, and find out which part of the filming her pet Venus flytrap enjoyed the most. There are even buildings that "play parts" in the movie. A house in California stands in for Judy's residence in Virginia, while Pasadena, California's San Rafael Elementary School "pretends" to be Judy's Virginia Dare School. But how about the infamous Scream Monster ride? Yes, the movie makers were able to find an amusement park ride that looks just like the one Judy enjoys.

One particularly interesting interview is with movie costume designer Mary Jane Fort, who describes the research process she goes through to outfit a character such as Judy Moody or Aunt Opal. She discusses her favorite costumes in this film, as well as the most challenging one to make. Of course, Mary Jane had many characters to dress. She tells how she worked hard to reveal each person's personality through their wardrobe.

An eight-year-old actor named Parris Mosteller plays Stink. During his interview, he reveals that he had to put over 50 pieces of hot dog in his mouth during the filming of a particular scene! In real life, he likes to invent things and has four brothers.

This is just a tiny sampling of all the fascinating goodies JUDY MOODY GOES TO HOLLYWOOD has to offer. It's an inviting open door into the world of movie making and actors, and a sure hit for Judy Moody fans.

As stated in the book detail, this is a behind the scenes look at the movie. This is not the movie in print. My 9 year old daughter reads constantly and enjoyed the book.
